Roots & Shoots

Founded in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall, Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots is a youth service program for young people of all ages. Our mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, other animals, and the environment. Leaders from the playground to the boardroom hold the key to shaping the world.To make the world a better place, we have to change the way we make decisions. We need leaders who care about how their actions affect the world we all share. Roots & Shoots to become the type of leaders who will make right choices to build a better world. Through the program, youth lead local change through service while developing skills and traits of compassionate leaders.

For the past 15 years RIDERhas worked closely with this organization and has helped plant over 20,000 trees in the Inner Mongolian desert. By reforestating, we help stop desertification and provide residents of the region with fertile land and work to help support their economy.
